HPV vaccination in HIV+ adolescents and young adults induces strong HPV-specific immune responses

چکیده
Background HPV-associated ano-genital infections represent the most common sexually-transmitted disease in the general population. The incidence of HPV-associated cancers has been increasing in HIV-infected patients. HPV vaccination may be an approach to reduce the risk of HPVassociated cancers in HIV-infected patients and a combined strategy of screening and vaccination may guarantee an adequate prevention of HPV-associated lesions. Immunogenicity of HPV vaccines in HIVinfected patients is still not adequately evaluated. We analyzed immunogenicity of a quadrivalent HPV vaccine in HIV-infected patients without molecular evidence of vaccine-type HPV infection focusing on HPV-specific cell mediated immunity (CMI).

A case study: lessons learned from human papillomavirus vaccine development: approval of a vaccine for use in children and young adolescents for prevention of an adult disease.
This article presents the adolescent clinical trials program for the quadrivalent HPV vaccine (Merck and Co, Inc, Whitehouse Station, NJ) as a case study of the development of a preventive intervention for use in young adolescents to protect against a future sexually transmitted infection and its associated diseases. In light of similarities in Human Papillomavirus (HPV) and HIV with regard to ...

BACKGROUND The Human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine has been available for protection against HPV-associated cervical cancer and genital warts since 2006. Nonetheless, uptake has varied among countries and populations within countries. Studies have found that individuals' knowledge and attitudes toward the vaccine are associated with immunization uptake. The purpose of the current review is to su...

Licensed human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccines provide near complete protection against the types of HPV that most commonly cause anogenital and oropharyngeal cancers (HPV 16 and 18) when administered to individuals naive to these types. These vaccines, like most other prophylactic vaccines, appear to protect by generating antibodies. However, almost nothing is known about the immunological memor...
متن کاملCellular immune responses to human papillomavirus (HPV)-16 L1 in healthy volunteers immunized with recombinant HPV-16 L1 virus-like particles.
The causal association between papillomavirus (HPV) infection and cervical cancer has been demonstrated; the development of a prophylactic vaccine to protect against HPV infection may therefore reduce the incidence of this cancer worldwide. Noninfectious HPV-like particles (VLPs), composed of the L1 major capsid protein, are current candidate vaccines for prevention of HPV infection and cervica...
متن کاملPredictors of HPV vaccine acceptability: a theory-informed, systematic review.
OBJECTIVE To inform future human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination programs, we systematically reviewed studies of HPV-related beliefs and HPV vaccine acceptability, organizing the findings using health behavior theory and cervical cancer risk factors. METHODS We searched Medline, CINAHL, and PsycINFO from 1995 to January, 2007 for studies of HPV beliefs and HPV vaccine acceptability among ado...
